John King was a much-loved chef with an international reputation and Laura’s beloved husband. The foundation received Registered Charity status on 18 March 2017. All monies raised will be spent wisely and managed by the Board of Trustees. Apart from John’s 4 beautiful children, the foundation will be his lasting legacy.
Over the years the business has evolved, but what drives her has truly never changed.
Our Founder’s Commitment
Throughout her life, founder Laura King has been a generous committee member and tireless fundraiser for numerous charities, including Carers Trust and St David’s Care in the Community. Her passion for giving back and supporting others has shaped the ethos of King’s Fine Food from the very beginning.
Caring for Our Planet and Our People
At King’s Fine Food, sustainability and social responsibility are not initiatives we add on – they are fundamental to who we are. As a family-owned business built on strong values, we believe that good food should be produced with care, integrity and respect for both people and the planet. Everything we do is guided by a desire to leave a positive, lasting legacy.
John King Brain Tumour Foundation
In honour of her beloved husband, John King – a much-loved chef with an international reputation – Laura founded the John King Brain Tumour Foundation, a cause incredibly close to her heart. Laura now serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees, continuing to champion the charity with dedication and purpose.
The foundation supports the Atkinson Morley Wing of St George’s Hospital, helping fund advanced treatment for brain and neurological disorders. It received Registered Charity status on 18 March 2017, with all monies raised carefully managed and used responsibly by the Board of Trustees. Beyond John’s four beautiful children, the foundation stands as his enduring legacy.
King’s Fine Food is proud to donate 10% of all net profits annually to the John King Brain Tumour Foundation.
John King Brain Tumour Foundation: Making a Tangible Difference
The Foundation’s mission is to make a real and lasting impact through fundraising that supports advanced treatment of brain diseases and the creation of healing spaces for patients, carers and loved ones.
One of the charity’s earliest projects was the McKissock Garden at St George’s Hospital, situated next to the Atkinson Morley Ward. This tranquil roof garden provides a peaceful place for patients, families and NHS staff to rest and recover. Feedback from users highlights the powerful impact of this space during times of stress and recovery.
The charity has also funded vital medical equipment, including a Stealth Autoguide Robotics Guidance Platform for St George’s Hospital’s Neurology Department. This state-of-the-art technology enables precision, minimally invasive cranial surgery, improving safety, accuracy and outcomes for patients. The equipment benefits at least 1,000 cranial surgery patients each year.
The Foundation’s largest project to date is the Garden in the Sky, a new roof garden adjoining the Neuro-ICU ward at St George’s Hospital. Having raised over £370,000, the garden is currently in development and is due for completion by Winter 2025. World-renowned sculptor Emma Rodgers, a patron of the charity, has created a special sculpture titled Ovation, which will take pride of place in the new garden.
The charity is supported by Laura and Holly King, alongside volunteer trustees, patrons and supporters who take part in fundraising events ranging from marathons and cycling challenges to abseils, golf days and prestigious London galas.
Our Sustainable Values
As a family business, we care deeply about the future – not only of King’s Fine Food, but of the planet and communities we share. Sustainability is woven into our everyday decisions, from sourcing and packaging to transport and waste reduction.
Packaging & Waste Reduction
We are continually reviewing and improving our packaging to reduce environmental impact:
Our white paper bags are ethically sourced from sustainable forests, and we are working to extend this approach across more of our packaging materials.
We use biodegradable bubble bags to protect delicate items during transport.
The majority of orders are shipped in recycled poly and cardboard boxes, helping to reduce landfill waste.
Our insulated packaging is made from compressed sheep’s wool, which is fully recyclable.
We work primarily with Kite Packaging, which holds ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications, as well as the BRCGS Global Standard for Storage and Distribution.
Select ad hoc packaging items are sourced from BSM Packaging.
We recycle plastic 1.8kg caviar tins, converting them into energy such as electricity and heat.
Food, general waste, glass, paper and cardboard are recycled via Veolia.
We actively fight food waste by partnering with Surplus to Supper and Too Good To Go, helping rescue and redistribute unsold food while supporting local communities.
Responsible Sourcing
Ethical and sustainable sourcing is central to our reputation for quality:
All our caviar originates from legal, inspected and approved breeding, processing and packing facilities registered with CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).
King’s Fine Food was the first UK company registered with CITES, holding registration number GB 0001.
Only farmed sturgeon is used for caviar production.
Our caviar complies fully with EU Regulation 865/2006, carrying the required identification codes.
For other fish products such as salmon, trout and lumpfish roe, we use MSC-certified, farmed or otherwise sustainable sources, all ranked 1–2 by the Marine Conservation Society.
We work with suppliers who share our values, including:
Amedei chocolatiers, who partner with certified cooperatives to ensure fair compensation and environmental protection, and use renewable energy and repurposed cocoa-husk packaging.
Tenuta Lamiotte olive oil producers, who hand-harvest olives in collaboration with the local community, preserve traditional farming methods and cold-press oils to reduce energy use and protect quality.
Eco-Friendly Transport & Energy
To reduce our carbon footprint:
King’s Fine Food operates a fleet of electric company cars and an electric business van, significantly lowering emissions.
We choose to work with renewable energy suppliers wherever possible.
As a carbon neutral plus organisation, we offset more than our scope one and two emissions by supporting verified global carbon reduction projects.
Transparency & Accountability
We take our responsibilities seriously and are committed to the highest ethical standards. Our policies reflect this commitment and include:
Sustainable Sourcing of Caviar
Food Waste Policy
Ethical Trading & Social Accountability
Environmental Policy
Human Slavery & Human Trafficking
Product Safety Culture
Animal Welfare Policy
Site Sustainability
Cyber Security Policy

We are equally committed to creating a supportive, welcoming workplace, where wellbeing, passion and teamwork are nurtured. Finally, sustainable profitability enables us to continue investing in the charitable causes and environmental initiatives that matter most to us.
Our Royal Warrant is a powerful symbol of the standards we uphold – recognising our commitment to exceptional quality, sustainability and social responsibility.
Looking Ahead
While King’s Fine Food has grown and evolved over the years, what drives Laura, Holly and the entire team has never changed: a deep love for quality food, people and the planet.
Through thoughtful action, responsible sourcing and meaningful philanthropy, we aim to do more than provide exceptional products – we aim to make a genuine, positive difference for generations to come.
