John King Brain Tumour Foundation Charity Abseil – Take a leap for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation and join our charity abseil, in partnership with Hatt Adventures, and Guildford Cathedral.

Over the last two years, The John King Brain Tumour Foundation is proud to have raised sufficient funds to design and build the John King ‘Forest in the Sky’ Garden at St. George’s Hospital, Tooting.

Adjacent to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, the garden will offer a restful space for critical care patients, carers and loved ones at what can be an extremely difficult and traumatic time. By reacquainting patients with the outside world, it can also help hugely with rehabilitation.

We are working closely both with the Capital Projects team at St. George’s and with our landscape designers. We are on target to complete the works by March 2024, but we do need to ensure the ongoing maintenance of the garden. Your support will ensure that our Forest in the Sky benefits generations to come.

Do you fancy a thrilling, fun and extremely rewarding challenge? Face your fears, help support the JKBT Foundation, and take part in a charity abseil at Guildford Cathedral on June 8th, 2024.

Climb the Tower’s spiral staircase of 249 steps to a height of 160ft (49m) and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of Guildford enjoyed every day by the 15ft (5m) tall Golden Angel … and then climb over the top!

Working with Guildford Cathedral and their abseil partner, Hatt Adventures (thehatt.co.uk), we can help you have a fun-filled, adventurous day with friends, colleagues and fellow fundraisers.

We have 50 spaces available – if you are interested, why not see if you can get a team together? Entrants will need to pay a £35 booking fee and pledge to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship.

Hatt Adventures are the number one organiser of abseils in the South East, Needless to say, all their staff are fully qualified abseiling instructors and first aid trained so rest assured: you will be in safe hands!

Terms and Conditions

PARTICIPANT RESTRICTIONS

MINIMUM AGE – 14yrs (must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian).

MAXIMUM AGE – None (but may be subject to a doctor’s medical note in some circumstances).

MAXIMUM WEIGHT – 100kg / 16 stone.

MEDICAL ISSUES – If a PARTICIPANT is in any doubt as to their medical ability to abseil, they should contact HATT, who may intern refer them to their doctor.

Participants must NOT be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Pregnant women are advised NOT to take part in this activity.
